Do Things That Make You Uncomfortable-Josh "Chachi" Marunde
This episode is with an old friend and renaissance man. Learn how doing uncomfortable things can lead to success and happiness.
Josh is a high school friend who is, in my opinion, a true renaissance man. He is a musician, regional qualifier in CrossFit, ultra endurance athlete, and small business owner. The most unique thing about Josh is he excelled at all of the listed above. He was the drummer for Pop Evil who during his time toured in the 48 contiguous states as well as multiple countries across Europe. They sold out shows and toured with the likes of 3 Doors Down, Theory of a Deadman, Finger Eleven, Papa Roach among many others including label mates with Five Finger Death Punch.
Along with being a successful musician Josh is also an accomplished CrossFitter and qualified for arguably one of the most competitive regions. He shares his crazy training schedule as he was simultaneously touring with Pop Evil. His drive and work ethic shine through when he shares this experience with me. I knew he was touring and training at the same time but didn’t know the lengths he went to to accomplish both tasks. It’s truly an unbelievable story.
That mindset led Josh to ultra-endurance racing and further solidified his mindset of doing things that make him uncomfortable. He has goals of running a 100-mile race but decided to open a micro-grocery store in downtown Kalamazoo (MOMA Facebook, MOMA Insta) and that has been put on hold for now. Josh is a huge proponent of finding balance in life and has very interesting perspectives on life and what he wants his future to be like.
This was a fun, enjoyable podcast for me and I hope you take the learning experiences Josh shares and use them for yourself.
