What if you lived each moment of your life like this was the last time?

This is a special episode as I have another one of the Brothers Nottoli on the podcast today. My youngest brother Robert (Bob) lives and works in the Phoenix area. He is the youngest of us 5 siblings. Bob starts out reliving what it meant for him as the youngest and how he had a blueprint from each of the older siblings. He also shares the pressure and expectations of being the youngest growing up in a small town where everyone has their own goals for you.

Bob has a unique perspective on how athletics can help shape your childhood but not  necessarily the reason you are who you are today. We touch on how having his first child really helped shift his focus to increase his mental fortitude to become a better husband and father. Bob flips the script and asks me the question “Would I be where I am today if I had started my path toward mastery sooner in life?” We dive deep into those answers so I hope you get some value out of it as we did.

We talk about how meditation has helped both of us become better fathers, husbands, friends, and professionals. Thoughts are largely out of our control and most of our lives these thoughts are hijacking what we’re perceiving. His analogy of how he treats his thoughts to help with his own stress and anxiety is great. Meditation is a great way to control and reconnect with what’s important, something we both agree on.

Bob had an important realization last year, he needed to be more agile for his children rather than lift heavy weights. That shifted his focus to yoga and now that has subsequently shifted his focus to realize the important moments in life. We also dive into what mantra Bob uses now to help keep him in the moment and appreciate every experience he has. The mantra “what if this is the last time I do this?” This wasn’t meant to be negative or dark in any way but a reminder of the precious moments in life.

We barely scratched the surface of what we planned on discussing and went on some tangents, but I hope you find value in this episode.
